Sargent 10 Line Locks are key-in-lever handles renowned for their superior functionality. They demonstrate exceptional durability and reliability, exceeding ANSI 156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 standards fivefold. These locks are designed to meet national and state fire safety regulations, making them suitable for various environments. We offer a wide range of these locks, and they are known for their versatility and high-security features.
The Sargent 10 Line is a heavy-duty cylindrical lever lock line built for the openings that cycle hardest: school corridors, hospital wings, university buildings, and institutional doors in constant use. Shop the 10 Line in passage, privacy, office, entrance, classroom, and storeroom functions, with conventional, SFIC, and LFIC keying across the standard finish range. In stock at Commercial Door Hardware and shipping the same day.
Why Duty Level Decides the Line
A 36-inch door in a hollow metal frame can be an office door opened twenty times a day or a classroom door opened eight hundred times a day. The hardware requirement is completely different, even though the opening looks identical on a drawing.
Cylindrical lock lines are separated by cycle life and load resistance, which is what grading measures. Specify below the opening's needs, and the lock fails early, usually within a year or two on a corridor. Specify above them, and you've paid for performance that will never be tested.

Classroom vs. Storeroom: The Decision That Gets Confused
These two functions get mixed up more than any others, and the difference matters.
Classroom function lets a key lock and unlock the outside lever. A teacher can secure the classroom from the corridor with a key, and once locked it stays locked until a key unlocks it again. The inside lever always allows exit.
Storeroom function keeps the outside lever locked permanently. A key retracts the latch for entry but doesn't unlock the lever, so the door relocks the moment it closes. The inside lever always allows exit.

If someone needs to prop the function open during business hours, that's classroom. If the room should never be accessible without a key, that's storeroom.
