The Sargent 8900 Series puts a panic bar and a mortise lock together in one Grade 1 device. Built for wide-stile wood and metal doors, it latches through a concealed single-point guarded latch inside the door. Shop the 8900 in night latch, storeroom, classroom, passage, and electrified functions, fire-rated and non-rated, in E, F, J, and G rails with no cutting needed on standard doors. In stock at Commercial Door Hardware.
What the 8900 Series Is
The 8900 is Sargent's wide stile mortise lock exit device. The push pad works like any 80 Series device, but instead of a surface latch, it operates a concealed single-point guarded latch within the mortise pocket of the door. That makes the latch much harder to defeat, and leaves the door edge clean.
It's designed for standard-width stile applications on wood and metal doors, and works equally well on single doors and on pairs, where the inactive leaf carries a vertical rod device.
